A TEENAGER was killed as he tried to cross a busy dual carriageway near Ashington in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Trainee chef Craig Chard (18) of Timberlea Close, Ashington, was crossing the southbound carriageway of the A24 when he was hit by at least one car. He suffered multiple injuries from which he died.

He was thought to be returning from a friend's house and trying to cross to the west side of the A24 , using a section of road where there was a small gap in the crash barriers.
