A SPECIALISED operation has led to a massive drop in the number of abandoned vehicles in the Horsham district.
New figures released show that over the last four years the district has seen a 73.9 per cent drop in abandoned vehicles being reported.
In 2003 Horsham District Council removed a total of 380 abandoned vehicles in that year but this fell to just 99 in 2007.

Operation Crackdown, which is organised by Sussex Police and supported by Horsham District Council, features a combination of tougher enforcement and new rules deterring anti social drivers, which have led to a drop in the number of vehicles being abandoned.
