Conquest - cleaner electrocuted

A court case against The Conquest hospital after a cleaner was electrocuted has been adjourned.
East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust was due to appear in court on Friday accused of two health and safety breaches.

A male cleaner needed surgery on his right hand after he was severely injured by a shock from a steam cleaner on April 14, 2006.

The Health and Safety Executive has charged the trust with failing to make a suitable and sufficient asessment of the risks to the health and safety of its employees and failing to ensure an electrical system was constructed so as to prevent danger.

The case is now expected to be heard on September 12 at Hastings Magistrates' .
