FILSHAM Valley School were thrilled to win the area heat of the FieldFare Kielder Challenge last week.

The team of eight students of all abilities from Year 8 to 10 worked superbly together to get a winning score of 141 points.

The second placed team from Newick had 117 points.

The inclusive national outdoor adventure competition, which has been running for over 20 years, took place at Friston Forest in Eastbourne during a day of heavy rain.

It involved problem solving activities testing the skills of a team to work together, communicate, plan and evaluate.

The school will now have to wait to see whether their score was good enough to take them to the national finals.
