Jobs could be lost at one of the town's biggest employers.
Bosses at 1066 Housing Association want to merge into a single bigger organisation to cut costs.

The company said it would be able to save £2 million a year if the move went ahead and the money put back into building new homes.

But some staff c
ould be made redundant.

The firm said it was unable to say how many staff would be affected as no decisions had yet been made.

It is currently consulting with residents about the plans which it says would give them more of a say on how the housing association is run.

The proposals include residents sitting on a new management board and staff at 1066 would still be based in Hastings.

If the proposals get the go-ahead the new organisation will come into effect next April.

Owen Ingram, interim chief executive of the AmicusHorizon Group, which 1066 Housing Association belongs to, said: "The plans to restructure the group are designed to focus on strengthening front-line services locally.

"We are currently consulting with residents about the proposals to ensure that they are fully aware of the plans and have the opportunity to ask any questions.

"The consultation is still in the early stages and as yet, no decisions regarding staff have been made.

"AmicusHorizon is committed to minimising redundancies by redeploying people wherever possible within the organisation.

"The outcome of the proposed changes would be to improve the services residents receive."
