A six foot long scrolled poem was unveiled at Priory Meadow shopping centre, after local shoppers added to the ode.
To celebrate this year's National Poetry Day last month, Earlyworks Press organised a competition asking passers-by to add their own lines of verse to The Long Poem.
Winners were invited to receive their prizes at a poetry and short story reading by local authors at Waterstones book shop this week.
Winner, maths teacher Peter Knight, was unable to attend, but runner-up, Helenswood School student Joanna Bowes, aged 15, received her prize from local author Victoria Seymour.
Anyone interested in getting involved in future Earlyworks Press projects is asked to talk to Kay Green at Priory Meadow on Sunday, November 11, or to late night shopping on Thursday, November, 15, when Earlyworks Press and Hastings Writers Group will also be exhibiting a selection of local authors' work.
