ALEXANDRA Park and the Hastings Country Park have once again picked up prestigious Green Flag awards.

Alexandra Park has also been given a Green Heritage Award for the fourth year running.

The heritage awards are presented to historic parks that have been well restored and managed. Alexandra Park scored top marks in the category.

Green Flag and Green Heritage Awards are handed out by the Civic Trust.
Entries must fulfil certain criteria including: good and safe access for all members of the community; good public conveniences and facilities; and well managed.

Councillor Peter Finch, lead member for Community Well-being, said: "Well done to all the teams involved with the upkeep of Alexandra Park and the Country Park.

"We work closely with the staff at Quadron, our contactor, and with the Friends of Alexandra Park and we are very proud indeed of this green space.

"We are also very grateful to the staff and team of volunteers at the Country Park who help manage this well loved asset".
