CONTROVERSIAL plans for an incinerator in Newhaven will be discussed at the High Court on Monday.
Lewes District Friends of the Earth, Dove 2000 and Newhaven Town Council have all asked for a judicial review into the plans for North Quay.

The judge will decide whether to grant a judicial review into the decision.

Head of legal at FoE and solicitor for the local group Phil Michaels said: 'We're really pleased that this hugely-important case is being heard urgently by the High Court.

'Building the Newhaven incinerator is at complete odds with the region's long term recycling targets – and will result in waste being burnt which could and should be recycled.'

Newhaven town councillor Carla Butler and Seaford town councillor Jon Freeman have organised a coach to the hearing in London. Anyone wanting to go can contact Cllr Butler on 01273 510368 or 0787 6162395.

Public comments also can be made to the Environment Agency before August 20.
