A NEWHAVEN musician has penned a song about the controversial incinerator being built in the town.
Glenn Middleton, of Court Farm Road, wrote Newhaven's Burning to add his voice to the protests.

He posted the song on music sharing website MySpace after objectors lost their case when they sought a judicial review.

Other protesters climbed a crane on the site where the burner is being built and chained themselves to equipment.
In the song Glenn sings:

In a little town by the sea, an intricate group of families.
Picturesque it used to be, now burning and never clean.
Thousands tried to stop the one thing they didn't want.
Newhaven's burning and there's nothing left to do, the tide is turning and the sky used to be blue.
Newhaven's burning and it's up to us to try to stop the burning and we might improve the life of this town.

Glenn said: 'I wrote it because since I was a teenager Newhaven has borne the brunt of everything. In East Sussex, Newhaven has been where everything gets fobbed off to.

'Nowhere else in East Sussex would put up with having a recycling site like Newhaven dump, then the landfill site, then an incinerator as well.

'It seems to mark the decline of Newhaven. I moved away for two years and since I came back it has got worse.'

There is some strong language.
