Roadside rubbish revealed

UGLY heaps of rubbish have been piled up alongside the A272 at Maresfield while ground is cleared for the new waste transfer station currently being built.
Ian Robertson from Uckfield wrote to the Express explained how plants and trees had been stripped from the side of the road to clear the land for a new slip road.

He explained: 'This revealed the horrendous amount of detritus that has been dumped over the years for us all to see.

'Let us hope that the present eyesore will be cleared quickly - it is a disgrace as it stands at the moment.'

An East Sussex County Council spokesman said: 'We are aware of the situation and we will be making arrangements to have the rubbish cleared away very soon.'

Mr Robertson added: 'It is beholden of all of us not to lfy tip and not to litter our heritage.'
