Another nail in the coffin of the plastic bag has been delivered by village activists.
Specially designed cotton shopping bags were flying out of the door on Saturday when they were launched in Balcombe.

The parish council paid for an initial 250 bags with the logo Balcombe First - Keep It Local.

They were launched during a two-hour Balcombe First exhibition by local businesses and more than 60 sold, priced at £2.50 each.

More have been snapped up since from the village shop, Balcombe Stores, which is taking part in Balcombe First Week along with other shops and businesses.

For a full report see this week's Mid Sussex Times.
