ABOUT half a dozen jobs are set to go in Burgess Hill after Lloyds announced it is closing all branches of Cheltenham & Gloucester.
The building society, which employs about 14 staff across branches in Crawley and Burgess Hill, will leave Britain's high streets for good in November.
A company spokesman said: "Cheltenham & Gloucester customers will continue to be able to manage their accounts at any of Lloyds TSB's more than 1,800 branches, over the phone and by post.
"These changes will result in the loss of 833 full time jobs which will affect up to 928 full-time and part-time colleagues."
The branch in Church Walk, Burgess Hill was closed at lunchtime today (Tuesday, June 9) while a staff meeting took place.
The branch hit the headlines in June, 2008 when a man pulled a gun on three women staff members in an armed raid.
Cheltenham & Gloucester is writing to its customers to explain the changes.
