The family-run photographic retailer, which was founded in Burgess Hill in 1971 by Reg Atkins, has now transitioned to an employee ownership trust following the sale of investors’ shares to its employees.

“Our family of employees are the heart and soul of the business and I’m extremely proud of every single one of them,” said owner and managing director Roscoe Atkins.

Roscoe, who took over his father’s business in 2013, said Park Cameras’ expert employees were responsible for its success and that an employee ownership trust would let them ‘unlock value within the company’.

An EOT would also let the team become more financially and emotionally invested in the business, he added.

Park Cameras has stores in central London and Burgess Hill and is aiming for long-term sustainability while rewarding its team of 65 workers.

The company is also looking to attract new employees and invest more in its senior management team as it plans to increase online and in-store sales.

Park Cameras also hopes to grow its sales of second-hand cameras and lenses.

“Despite a challenging period during the pandemic, we have increased revenue by 65 per cent over the past five years,” said Roscoe.

“Thanks to the continued development of online sales, advancements of camera and lens technology and the EOT, we envisage a further growth of over 50 per cent in the next two years,” he added.

Park Cameras has more than 100 awards for good service and offers events, workshops and courses for its customers.
