E shaped copse Royal tribute for Queen Elizabeth snubbed by pollsters
PLANTING an “E” shaped copse for the Queen is being given a massive thumbs down so far in a poll.
91 per cent of pollsters said at the latest count it is not a good idea to put the tribute near Lewes, in much the same sort of tribute as the existing giant V near Plumpton on the South Downs was to Queen Victoria.
The giant ‘E’ would be planted on the South Downs to mark the Queen’s diamond jubilee this year.
It is the brainchild of Wivelsfield resident Carola Godman Irvine, and marks the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s reign – Queen Elizabeth officially took the throne this week 60 years ago on February 6, 1952. Nine per cent of pollsters so far back the idea of the E being planted.
