Jolly Tanners pub helps out hospice

Regulars at The Jolly Tanners in Staplefield have raised £2,737.74 for St Catherine's Hospice.

The money was raised over the course of several months, through raffles and themed rugby grids, plus a well-supported Garden Party, which was held in the final throws of summer last year.

Chris Brazier and his wife Sigrun are licensees at the popular village pub. Chris said: "Our regulars really are a charitable bunch and I'd like to say a big thank you for all their support. I'd also like to thank Barbara Alderson and Carol Simmonds who helped immensely with the fundraising, especially with our Garden Party - in fact, Barbara is a huge inspiration having raised almost 30,000 herself, last year alone!"

Chris and Sigrun plan to continue raising more money for charity this year, with plenty of ideas under way that will see their regulars digging deep in to their pockets for good causes.

The pub has a wide reaching reputation for good food, wine and real ale and is situated opposite Staplefield's picturesque cricket green; the pub is also extremely popular in the warmer months, with its attractive beer garden proving a 'real winner' with families.

This Valentines, Chris and Sigrun will be hosting a Valentines evening that will feature a speciality menu to tickle the taste buds of lovers looking to enjoy a romantic meal for two, couples can also take part in the lovers quiz featuring questions on classic love songs and romance to win a bottle of champagne.
