Sunny side up on Solar Street in Burgess Hill

NINE neighbours are on the sunny side of the street in Burgess Hill after they all had solar panels installed.

It is thought the families at The Willows might make up the largest solar street in the UK.

Resident Michael Abraham said: “Because of concerns about increasing energy prices, and our responsibility to cut greenhouse gas emissions, installing solar panels was the obvious solution for us. The deal was so good that I decided to share the offer with my neighbours. The process was quick and simple and I’m looking forward to seeing the final outcome and of course helping to save me and my neighbours some money on our bills!”

Helped by the unusually sunny weather and a sharp increase of installations, more than 7.2 million kilowatt hours of electricity were generated by domestic solar systems during April.

The panels were fitted by HomeSun, which says it is the UK’s leading provider of free solar energy.

The firm’s chief executive officer Daniel Green said :”“Solar Streets are fast becoming a trend sweeping the country.

“Solar power has always been a quick way to cut electricity bills and CO2 emissions – but the issue was price. Now Government-backed incentives mean that HomeSun can offer solar panel systems completely free of charge. This good news appears to be travelling fast among neighbours.”
