Disillusioned over Relief Road saga

AH well, never mind, shame, don't worry – the Relief Road will now not be completed until 2017. No clear reasons given, but there we are – c'est la vie!

One may be forgiven for thinking that our fondly-awaited Relief Road, promised in 1995 (at least I think that was the date – it was so long ago!), may never be completed, but thankfully our new leader, Councillor Garry Wall, is on the case. He has already spotted that Crest Nicholson is not acting in the best interests of the residents of Mid Sussex (Middy, November 26).

The truth of the matter is that, unless Mid Sussex District Council deals with the developers now, the Relief Road (and the promised Ashenground Bridleway) will never be completed. If they do not, they may as well continue to lie down and let Crest Nicholson walk all over them.

The front page of last week's Middy stated that 'Crest Nicholson is expected to pay for the road'. This should read 'Crest Nicholson is contractually obliged to pay for the road before any further sales of houses are permitted'.

Either we cut our losses with the Relief Road or we get to grips with it. Please may we have the latter, MSDC?

I am sure that the residents of Haywards Heath, contrary to the results of the recent Place Survey (which showed that a large majority are happy with Mid Sussex as a place to live), are, in fact, totally disillusioned with the ongoing saga of the Relief Road and, come to think of it, the Station Quarter Redevelopment.
