Going over the top

I WAS interested in the letter about health and safety in last week's issue of the Middy, health and safety laws have gone over the top in a big way.

Where people are not allowed to take photographs of Christmas Tree lights and are now deemed criminals and a threat to world peace and where binmen aren't able to clear our bins because they might slip on the snow. An old lady friend of mine fell and only needed a strong man to help her up.

A team of strong men were there, but they couldn't help her up because of health and safety, they told her they would have to call an ambulance.

Think of all the time wasted because of this not to mention the cost and shopkeepers afraid to grit their paths in case they get sued. These health and safety laws are crippling our nation; paralysing all activity and common sense.

Instead of a health and safety law we should have a health and common sense law.

All these health and safety laws have come into being because some people didn't use their common sense.
