Letter: We must meet housing quota
I READ your recent article (“Developers driving district
plan, says Labour”, Thursday 19 January 2012) with interest, and proceeded to read the Mid Sussex Constituency Labour Party’s full response to the MSDC District Plan consultation draft. There is much in the response that I agree with, but I will limit my comments here to just two items. Since 2003 the average house price to earnings ratio has been well above the long-term average level, so I agree with the Labour response that the District Council must be more robust in securing its policy commitment to the delivery of 30 per cent social housing in every new development.
Also, I strongly agree that to increase social integration, such housing should not be concentrated in one location within a new development.
