Letter: Well-deserved praise
MAY I join councillor Jonathan Ash-Edwards, the District Council Cabinet Member for Finance and Service Delivery, in his welcome for the well deserved, and in my view significant, praise accorded to the work of the Mid Sussex District Council by the Audit Commission as reported in the Mid Sussex Times on January 19.
It has been incredibly encouraging to see the council grapple with a very difficult scenario and to work through the challenging financial and service options that present themselves for the future in these hard times.
The decisions they have taken on prioritising their resources and achieving significant cost reductions by improving efficiency and productivity should command considerable respect and I salute their efforts on behalf of all Mid Sussex residents.
There are difficult years ahead and an austere financial outlook but the council are very well placed to deal with all this.
