Plumpton College students at Bedelands

Students from Plumpton College braved the chilly weather to spend a day at the Bedelands nature reserve in Burgess Hill.

Directed by their course leader, Abby Lamb, they thinned out the dense tree canopy in a dark part of Long Wood. This will allow more sunlight into the glades and encourage wild flowers, butterflies and birds to proliferate.

Dominic Moore, who chairs the Friends of Burgess Hill Green Circle Network, said: “I really value our good relationship with Plumpton College, which benefits us both.”

Volunteers from the network manage Bedelands on behalf of the district council.
