A DRAMATIC police chase which began in Littlehampton ended in a four-car crash which injured two policemen.
Road policing officers gave chase to a dark green Ford Mondeo after it refused to stop for them on the A259 in Littlehampton at 10.45am, yesterday(Wednesday).

Sparks literally flew from the fleeing car as the tyre on the front near-side of the vehicle had been somehow sheared off the wheel.

Three police cars pursued the car along the A259 towards Worthing and then southbound down Titnore Lane into Goring.

The drama ended after the Mondeo was overtaken by one of the police cars and forced on to the pavement in Aldsworth Avenue.

Eyewitnesses said the driver was pulled from the car and arrested after a struggle.

He was then taken into custody at Worthing police station.
A police spokesman said two officers were taken to Worthing Hospital suffering from whiplash and three police cars were damaged.
