Pirates will be taking over Hastings Old Town next month as they hunt for buried treasure.
In an event organised by the Old Town Traders a host of buccaneering black beards will descend on Hastings for the town's first ever Pirate Day.

Held on Friday August 7, the fun day will see the Old Town transformed into an 18th Century pirate town.

There will be traditional music, pirate entertainers for children, face painting, a treasurer hunt, pirates roaming the streets and a host of decorated local shops.

Members of the public are encouraged to join in the fun and dress in pirate clothes and anyone who does don an eye patch or a fake parrot can join in the planned pirate procession along the seafront.

There will also be a host of lookalike actors and stuntmen on show, including doubles of Pirates of the Caribbean characters Jack Sparrow, Barbosa and Will.

To round the day off there will be a pirate barbecue at the Motor Boat and Yacht Club and pirate songs and sea shanties at The Stag pub in All Saints Street.
