Garden of the Week: Ridge House
Ridge House in Turners Hill is a one-acre garden full of surprises.
Owned by Nicholas and Anwyn Daniels, it is opening on June 21 and 22 as part of the National Garden Scheme.
It's much larger than you'd expect and it seems to open up before your very eyes.
The more you explore, you more you find; mixed borders full of interesting and unusual plants, lawns, an orchard, a productive vegetable garden, a fascinating Victorian greenhouse, more lawn, a dell and a pond.
And when you think you've seen everything, you'll come across a remembrance garden for quiet contemplation and beautiful views of the High Weald of Sussex.
The garden at Ridge House is beautifully kept: the roses seem to be more fragrant, the lawns more stripey, even the weeds hardly dare show themselves.
Ridge House, Turners Hill RH10 4PU (on B2110 from East Grinstead, just off B2028 at Turners Hill) is open on June 21 & 22, 2 – 6pm, adults 3, children free.
