Garden of the Week: Latchetts

THE National Gardens Scheme's largest fundraiser in East and Mid Sussex, Latchetts in Danehill, is opening on Friday July 18 and Saturday July 19.

This remarkable five-acre garden is owned and very much the brain-child of Rebeka and Laurence Hardy.

One of the many reasons visitors return to Latchetts year after year is that the garden is forever evolving.

Major features like the Millennium Garden, the Sunken Garden and the Circle Garden have been created over the last few years, and every season there seems to be something new.

Latchetts is a lovely garden set in glorious countryside with wonderful views.

Near the house is a woodland stream with waterfalls and pockets of small pools and further on are the rose and prairie gardens.

Latchetts, Freshfield Lane, Danehill RH17 7HQ (5m NE of Haywards Heath, SW off A275) is open on Fri & Sat July 18 & 19, 1.30 – 5.30pm, adults 4, children free. Also open on Aug 8, 9.
