Garden of the Week: Legsheath Farm

LEGSHEATH Farm, near Forest Row, is opening on Sunday May 18 as part of the National Garden Scheme.

This 10 acre garden is only open once a year.

There are all sorts of unusual things to see at Legsheath, though first impressions are the spectacular views over Weirwood reservoir.

Once you start walking you'll begin to appreciate why this garden is different: clumps of wild orchids, azaleas and acers in springtime colours, eucryphia and rhododendrons, and their famous handkerchief tree, Davidia Involucrata.

And if that's not enough, look out for the many varieties of Meconopsis, the blue poppies, on your way to the bog gardens and ponds.

And when you've finished ambling around this delightful and different garden, don't miss the tea and cakes...baked and served by the owners, Sophie and Michael Neal.

Legsheath Farm, near Forest Row RH19 4JN (4 miles S of East Grinstead, 2m W of Forest Row), is open on Sunday May 18, 2pm – 5pm, adults 5, children free.

As part of the National Gardens Scheme, gardens open for charity. They raise money for Macmillan Cancer, Marie Curie & nursing and gardening charities.
