Open garden celebration

LADY Gibson, owner of Penns In the Rocks, Groombridge, was presented with a plaque and a Paulownia tomentosa tree by Nicolas Payne, chairman of the NGS, to commemorate 40 years of opening her garden for the National Gardens Scheme.

Since 1968 she has raised over 28,000. The NGS collects for cancer, nursing, caring and gardening charities, in particular MacMillan Cancer and Marie Curie, by opening private gardens for a few days a year.

Penns in the Rocks is open again on Sunday August 10, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, adults 4, children 1.

Tea and cakes will be available.
