They may not have looked overly upset but these toddlers had just found out some one had vandalised their play area.
The toddlers were members of the Ascension Church Playgroup, in Vale Road, Haywards Heath, in July 1988, and clearly didn’t understand the photographer’s instruction to “look sad”.
Why would they? When you’re three, life is too fascinating to mope at.
The vandals had kicked down the gate leading to the play area, damaged the climbing frames and broken the sandpit lid when they used it as a skateboard ramp.
Supervisor Ella Nichols contacted the Mid Sussex Times to ask readers for help fund the repairs.
Here’s hoping people were generous.
