Evening featuring oustanding soloists

The annual Mid-Sussex Remembrance Concert in aid of the Royal British Legion is on Sunday, November 11 at 7.30pm in the Dolphin Centre, given by Ardingly Choral Society in conjunction with Mid-Sussex Sinfonia and the combined choirs of Ardingly College Prep and Tavistock & Summerhill Schools.

Spokeswoman Shirley Ventham said: “After the opening very moving setting of For the Fallen, the children will sing songs from Bugsy Malone, the orchestra will play Walton’s Crown Imperial March and, after the interval, all forces will join together in Mozart’s glorious Coronation Mass.

“These two items with Parry’s Jerusalem, will continue to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee year. Three movements from Robert Hammersley’s environmental work, Fragile Earth will complete the first half. This work was premiered in Oxford last October to a full house and standing ovation; it explores the wonders of creation and the need to preserve the environment.

“The outstanding soloists are Eloise Irving (soprano), Jane Haughton (alto) and Lawrence Olsworth-Peter(tenor) who are all well known locally and the young bass James Platt who made such an impact last year. The Remembrance Concert sold out last year so early booking is advised.”

Sainsburys have kindly offered the use of their car-park for the evening.

Tickets at £14 (concessions £12) are available now from Carousel Music, Shirley Ventham on 01273 831264 or the Dolphin Centre box office.
