Princess Royal’s hospital radio gets musical
Mid Sussex Radio Show
Volunteer broadcasters at Mid Downs Hospital Radio are taking to the stage to present their first ever live theatre show.
Mid Downs Hospital Radio started 35 years ago in the post room at the old Cuckfield Hospital but now has its own studio at the Princess Royal Hospital.
The volunteers latest entertainment efforts are to raise money for vitally needed new studio equipment at the PRH where the presenters and technical team broadcast seven days a week to patients, visitors and staff.
Entitled There’s No Business Like Show Business the performance will be over two nights at Central Sussex Collage’s Hub Theatre on Friday October 26 and Saturday October 27.
Vice chairman Wendy Swinton-Eagle said: “As a registered charity, we raise all our funds ourselves through events, tin shakes, grants and other activities.
“This year we urgently need new studio equipment and so we are producing our first show at the Central Sussex College’s Hub Theatre.”
There’s No Business Like Show Business is described as “a cavalcade of songs from your favourite musicals” and features local performers and members of Mid Downs Radio.
Tickets cost £12, £10 for concessions (OAPs and NHS staff) and £5 for children under 16. Tickets are available from Fancy That in Cyprus Road, Burgess Hill; SWALK in Lindfield High Street, The Cartridge Shop, in South Road, Haywards Heath and the Mid Downs Radio studio on 01444 441350 or on the door.
The production is sponsored by P&S Gallagher but other backers are needed to help with costs.
