Downlands' pupils in Grease

Downlands' pupils in Grease

Audiences rocked to Grease at Downlands Community School, with foot-tapping numbers and likeable stars in a feel-good show.

With pop hit status songs such as “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and “You’re the One that I Want”, the Hassocks secondary school’s production included back flips from the boys in ambitious dance routines that put the emphasis on fast-paced fun.

The packed audiences included members of Age UK Hassocks, primary school children, parents and grandparents.

Ellie Mockler, head of Drama, assisted by Sarah Stevens and Lizzie Braint, inspired the pupils to achieve polished performances that underlined their talent.

Abra Preston-Roberts as Sandy, Tom Fransham as Danny, Jess Kelly-Noakes as Rizzo and Kieran Murray as Kenickie gave solo performances that ranked alongside the professionals.

From stage hands to the band – everyone worked together to make the show a great success.
