DRIVERS are being warned to leave extra time for their journeys when maintenance work on the A23 slip road at Pyecombe begins on August 31.

During the work to replace a chain link fence and clear a neighbouring ditch, there will be narrow lane running and a 40mph speed limit in place.

While the work is taking place the slip road will be closed between 8am and 5.30pm and also overnight this Sunday and again on Saturday September 13.

Drivers joining the southbound route will be diverted onto a route from the A281 London-bound to join the B2117 at Muddleswood where they will join the A23 coastbound carriageway.

Martin Wright, Highways Agency route performance manager for Sussex, said: "These works will ensure that the chain link fence will maintain safety for road users. Drivers are asked to allow extra time for their journeys."
