DAME Vera Lynn will host her annual Clay Pigeon Shoot at Newick Park on Sunday, October 12.
The event, now in its eighth year, is to raise funds for a cause dear to Dame Vera's heart – The Dame Vera Lynn School for Parents.
Participants will shoot in teams of four over six stands with varying targets, finishing with a full flush. In addition to the clay shoot, teams will also take part in an exhilarating off road driving experience, including tank driving and quad biking.
This year John Hargreaves, with his impressive display of antique firearms and accoutrements, will be attending. Guests can try their hand at firing a selection of black powder flintlock and percussion guns and try the original form of trap shooting that pre-dates the clay pigeon.
A barbecue will run throughout the day and the activities will be followed by drinks on the lawn and a late lunch in the marquee with prize giving, raffle and auction by comedian Adger Brown.
The cost to enter is £160 per gun. The event welcomes both 'old timers' and novices. Contact Kate Evers on 01787 220218 or
kateevers@btconnect.com for an entry form.
