PATIENTS undergoing life-saving brain operations will benefit from state-of-the-art equipment thanks to the generosity of two women.

Sally Holmes and Sharon Foley owe their lives to the skill of surgeons at Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre in Haywards Heath and wanted to raise funds to say thank you.

Sally, from Hurst Green in East Sussex, suffered a brain haemorrhage six years ago and underwent a six-hour operation to insert a titanium clip to close off the leaking blood vessel. She loved it so much she decided to ride round the coast of Britain and duly raised £8,000 for Hurstwood Park with generous support from bikers' clubs across the land.

Brian Gubbin was back with a smile and a handshake later in the day when another patient, Sharon Foley, handed over a cheque for £2,560.

Sharon from Ashurst Wood underwent life-saving surgery for a brain tumour and held a sponsored silence for the hospital.
