POLICE have apologised for a printing blunder in one of their leaflets directing people to a hardcore porn website.

Instead of tips on tackling crime, horrified residents called up the website to find advertising for 'policemen strippers', explicit gay movies, escort jobs, sex jobs and 'sexy adult costumes'.

Hundreds of flyers were printed to launch a campaign to tackle 'Crime and Grime' in the Haywards Heath area and were being dropped through letterboxes when the error was spotted.

Inspector Ed Henriet, of Haywards Heath police, said the design mistake was put right within an hour and the costs of reprinting in-house using desktop publishing were 'minimal'.

He said: "It was identified, corrected and amended within an hour."
