One such person is Nikola Morgan of Plumpton Green who first came to our shores in 1982 on a student visit from Norway.
She is now married, with two children and works part-time as a nurse at nearby St Peter and St James Hospice.
Nikola studied art at university and, apart from her family, it is her main interest in life. She works in oils mainly on abstract landscapes influenced by Norway and has taken part in Lewes Artwave several times.
Now a group of Scandinavian artists living in the area have combined to mount an exhibition of their works entitled Kreator that includes paintings, ceramics, design and glass.
It will be held at the Bellis Gallery in the Lanes, Brighton until May 26 and will be open daily (except Tuesdays) 10am to 6.30pm.
Nikola said: "It is good for Scandinavians to be able to get together to make our own contribution to our local community."
The gallery is at 8 Kings Road, Brighton just off East Street and exhibition details are obtainable
here or by ringing (01273) 747429.
