A MAN who has survived eight suspected heart attacks at 23 is heading for another close shave for Carla Lane's animal sanctuary.

This time Mark Thwaites hopes to raise hundreds of pounds for charity with his stunt during a day of events in Burgess Hill.

Mark, from Denham Road, Burgess Hill, has defied death despite the spate of attacks in the past three years caused by a medical condition.

His last attack in October left him on a life support machine and he says: "It's 17 years now and still no one knows for sure what is causing it."

Mark has volunteered to have his pride and joy, his mop of hair, cut off during the fundraiser at The Potters pub in Station Road, Burgess Hill, on September 13.

Some of the money raised will help pay for an animal ambulance at the sanctury, where his mother Lyn Baines works.

The events will raise money for Carla Lane's charity Animaline, based at her animal sanctuary at Broadhurst Manor, near Horsted Keynes.

The group hopes to have some animals from the sanctuary at the day, as well as various entertainments including chip and putt, face painting, badminton, bouncy castle, raffles and a barbecue.
