THERE must be strong doubts whether Haywards Heath's Sussex Rugby Cup final with Worthing can be rescheduled this season after last Sunday's heavy snow led to a postponement at Lewes RFC.
Both clubs still have two league games to fit in and that could mean a suitable date will be difficult to find. It is believed the clash could now take place in August before the new league season gets underway.
This Saturday Heath play their penult
imate London 2 South match at home to third-placed Chobham knowing that wins in the final two games will assure them of the title and put them back in London 1 for their 50th anniversary season.
The final game is a week later away to Maidstone, whom Chobham beat 36-8 at home in their last league match. Last Sunday the weekend's visitors had better luck than Heath as their Surrey Cup final at Imber Court got the go-ahead although it was not a happy ending as Chobham lost 14-3 to Sutton & Epsom.
The previous league win for the Surrey club came at a price as powerhouse Andrew Walsh was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a serious ankle injury. Chobham have also now lost two-try Corey Kennett, who has returned to New Zealand.
There were plenty of Heath's young players in the Lewes Tertiary College that won the Daily Mail Under 18 Vase final at Twickenham last week.
