Burgess Hill made comfortable enough progess in their home FA Cup tie with County League Hailsham but had to wait until stoppage time to make it absolutely safe when young sub James Westlake scored his first senior goal to complete a 2-0 win.

ins: The game has just entered four minutes stoppage time when Greenfield breaks down the right and lays a chance on a plate that young Westlake takes with aplomb to seal Hillians' progress.

Westlake is soon at the heart of the action and twice sets up
Harper. who puts the second effort wide of the far post.

85 mins: Greenfield sets up Harper for a strike at goal but it clears the bar comfortably.

There is really only one side in it but Hailsham can draw great heart and with just one goal separating the teams, the result remains in the balance.

81 mins: Hillians make their final substitution when James Westlake replaces Johnson.

78 mins: Last throw of the dice by the visitors as they bring on Sam Pout for Eamon Brennan.

74 mins: Home player-manager Jamie Howell comes on for Cotton and seconds later Greenfield drives the ball dangerously across the face of the Hailsham goal.

73 mins: Hailsham bring on striker Marcus Whiteman for defender Dave Temple.

70 mins: Hailsham are temporarily down to 10 men as Cotton fires the ball across the face of their goal without anyone getting a touch.

67 mins: Hillians bring on Peter Martin for Elkins as they continue to make all the running.

58 mins: Another Harper free kick right on the edge of the box after handball against Early, leads to Elkins having an effort blocked at the near post by Reeve.

57 mins: A strong run by Cotton ends abruptly just outside the box to earn Hailsham skipper Paul Richardsona yellow card and from the resulting free kick Harper pulls a great save to the right by Jenner.

56 mins: Hailsham replace Dean Stevens with Mark French.

53 mins: After it appears Hailsham have weathered the early storm, Hillians at last break the deadlock as good work by Johnson and Elkins enables Steve Harper to score with a header over the keeper.

46 mins: Hill are soon on the attack and Cotton fires just over after good work on the left by French.

47 mins: It's a bright start by the hosts and after shots are blocked and Piper has strong claims for handball turned down when his shot is blocked, Elkins has a header saved.

BURGESS Hill Town have been held to a goalless first half in the FA Cup preliminary round against Hailsham Town.

Phil Elkins twice went close to opening the scoring and Steve Harper and Richard Greenfield forced Hailsham keeper Glen Jenner into saves as the Hillians enjoyed the better of the half.

42 mins: Hillians are applying the pressure before the break, this time Greenfield draws a good save from Jenner.

41 mins: Steve Harper draws a smart save from Jenner as he hits a dropping ball from ten yards.

37 mins: Gainsford heads over after Hillians force two successive corners.

34 mins: Jenner beats away Steve Harper's shot but with people arriving in the box, Greenfield's cross is poor.

32 mins: Callum Holles tries his luck from range but clears the bar in a rare foray forward.

27 mins: Richard Greenfield skins his man and whips in a dangerous ball, and although Hailsham clear, it falls for Lloyd Cotton whose shot is blocked.

23 mins: Danny Gainsford's towering header is well held by Jenner, Hillians are starting to turn the screw.

22 mins: Elkins is denied again in a goalmouth scramble as Hailsham stopper Jenner smothers the ball.

19 mins: Burgess Hill up the pressure with a couple of corners, and Elkins stretches for a cross, but it's millimetres from his boot.

It's not quite happening for the Hillians at the moment - there's some nice football until it breaks down in the final third.

Hailsham are enjoying a bit of a purple patch here, Ashley Jarvis battles his way to a shooting opportunity 30 yards out.

10 mins: Steve Early's searching pass finds Eamonn Breannan for Hailsham, he takes a touch and chips over Craig Stoner's crossbar.

7 mins: Phil Elkins misses a golden chance to open the scoring, poking wide from Ben Johnson's devilish cross. Hillians are on top.

5 mins: Lloyd Cottom finds a good position in the box, but his shot is comfortably saved by Glen Jenner.

2 mins. Good covering from Danny Gainsford as Sam Cole poses the first threat for the away side. It's the first time they've crossed half way.
