Lawrie's loyalty recognised
The 33 years of loyal service given to the Mid Sussex Football League by Lawrie Parsons was duly recognised at last week's AGM when he became only their fifth life member.
Parsons, who is general secretary and has served in various posts, joins Peter Bentley, Wayne Malins, Ken Somerville and Peter Strange.
He is photographed (right) with Doug Austen-Jones, who stepped down after seven years as chairman and is replaced by David Port, a vice-president of the League.
Derek Budgen was appointed a vice-president in appreciation of his 10 years' service as Referees'Appointments Secretary, a role now taken over by Richard Cherryman.
At the end of the AGM a number of presentations were made by president Brian Hall, and Merit Awards totalling almost £2,000 were presented by sponsors for the past nine seasons, Gray Hooper Holt LLP.
