Lindfield Football Club is chasing a Mid Sussex League Double after its first team won the Montgomery Cup final for the first time in eight years last night.
Goals by ace strikers Rick Peacock and Aaron Walsh took the top Mid Sussex League cup trophy 2-1 against league title rivals Old Varndeanians.

More than 200 fans saw the Brighton side take a surprise breakaway lead at 15 minutes through Jay Tostevin, who lobbed Lindfield keeper Shaun Chapman, after some early Lindfield pressure had failed to produce goals.

Peacock burst through after a neat build-up to level for Lindfield before the interval, in an entertaining match with plenty of action.
With time running out Lindfield pressure penned Varndeanians in their own area and Walsh scored from a close range header in a set piece.

The two teams are level on points in the Premier Division with three games to go and play each other on May 3, with Lindfield curently having a better goal difference.
