SCAYNES HILL 2nd XI are assured of promotion from Division 2 of the Sussex Invitation Cricket League and can now set their sights on the title after they stayed just four points behind leaders Southwick.
Their 30-point win could hardly have been more nailbiting as they collapsed from 130-1 to 200-9 before dismissing visitors Clymping for 199 with seven balls remaining.
Paul Morgan top scored for Hill with 56 but unlucky losers for Clymping were Roge
r Hudson (5-50) and Bradley James (100no).
In the final round of fixtures this Saturday, the leaders will be given a tough test at home to local rivals Portslade, while Hill have to visit Aldwick.
Scaynes Hill 1sts were well beaten Felbridge & Sunnyside last Saturday as only Luke Forster (61) offered any real resistance to Chris Richens (7-36) as the visitors were bowled out for 155 in the 48th over.
That proved easy enough for the hosts as Sam Holt (52no) and John Connelly (42) helped them to an eight-wicket win in only 31 overs.
In the same division, there was an amazing game as bottom club Rustington managed to delay Storrington's promotion bid. It was all the more incredible as Rustington had lost all 13 matches played this season. Storrington must now take 18 points at champions Southwater on the final day to seal runners-up spot.
