A superb 88th minute strike by Anthony Hibbert (pictured on Saturday) gave Hassocks a well deserved 1-1 draw at Hailsham on Tuesday.
Just when it looked like the visitors would pay dearly for squandering chances, Hibbert's excellent 25-yarder flashed through a crowded area to earn his side the point they fully merited.
The visitors made three changes from their opening day win, giving first team debuts to James McKenzie and Jamie Hillwood, and a first full start to Ali Russell. Hillwood, in particular, impressed after a nervous start.
Hassocks began bright-ly, with Spencer Slaughter, playing in an unfamiliar role up front, being denied by Max Dyer's block at the far post after a fine cross by Russell and then soon after going close with a ferocious 25-yard drive.
But as Hailsham responded, Adam Kneller's free kick clipped the top of the bar and Sam Cole fired wide when well placed.
However, it was against the run of play when the hosts went ahead on 37 minutes, Ashley Jarvis heading home from close in as Paul Williams was caught in two minds when a cross held up in the wind.
Almost immediately, Slaughter missed the best chance of the half when he rounded keeper Glen Jenner but with the goal at his mercy, sent his sidefoot effort against the post.
The second half was a one-sided affair, with Hailsham rarely threatening and the Robins camped in their half.
