Almost 100 members took part in the annual Captain's charity day at Wealden Indoor Bowls Club, held this year on behalf of the locally-based Headway.
The day's bowling was arranged as two sections playing a round robin competition to provide two finalists. Both sections were fiercely contested and with honours even, the finalists were eventually decided by shot difference.
With the first two ends of the final won by just one shot by each team, the whole result was all down to the final end of the day. And it looked like it as the jack was moved no less than three times in a marvellous finale.
The team led by Malcolm Goman held shot with only opposing skip Bob Younger left to play and he fired into the head to take the jack and his own bowl into the ditch to snatch a dramatic victory.
It was a great finish to a great day's bowling which saw the charity benefit by more than £500.
