Ken Barnard, aged 80, shot a 79 to beat his age at a yellow-tee monthly competition at Pyecombe Golf Club on Friday. He scored 42 points.

Ken, who plays off 16, was delighted: "I was a bit worried when I had a six on the 16th, which came from nowhere, but I managed to hold it together."
He has shot under his age three times in the last four years.
Ken, who has twice been captain of Pyecombe and recently stepped down from a 13-year spell as president, boasts that his handicap must be among the most accurate in the club as he has put in 78 cards in the last two-and-a-half years.
