TWO drivers had a miraculous escape after a crash on Beacon Road, Ditchling.
Just before the accident at about 8.46am this morning (Friday, March 5) nearby resident Peter Woodward spotted frozen water on the road.

He said: "I reported it to Highways and when I looked out again I saw both cars almost on top of each other and police lights flashing. I think one of the cars slipped on the ice."

Mr Woodward took this picture of the crash minutes after it happened.

The driver of the blue mini, a 47-year-old woman from Horsted Keynes, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Nissan, a male from Haywards Heath, was shaken but unhurt.
