LADY Gibson, owner of Penns In the Rocks, Groombridge, was presented with a plaque and a Paulownia tomentosa tree by Nicolas Payne, chairman of the NGS, to commemorate 40 years of opening her garden for the National Gardens Scheme.

Since 1968 she has raised over £28,000. The NGS collects for cancer, nursing, caring and gardening charities, in particular MacMillan Cancer and Marie Curie, by opening private gardens for a few days a year.

Penns in the Rocks is open again on Sunday August 10, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, adults £4, children £1.

Tea and cakes will be available.
