A road has been closed after flood waters reached 2ft in height earlier this morning (Thursday January 7).

Police were called to Spatham Lane, in Ditchling, at around 8.20am after reports the road near Mid Sussex Golf Club had become heavily flooded.

Further investigation found the road had been flooded at various points between the Folders Lane junction and the B2116.

Officers closed the road after it became ‘impassable’ even for road users travelling in 4x4.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said the water levels had fallen to around 3 inches at around 10.50am but the road sill remained closed.

Flooding was also reported along the B2112 near the village.
