Go behind scenes at Chichester's museum
Anyone who has ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a museum is being invited to join the experts at Chichester district museum this summer for a chance to meet curators and other specialists.
The free sessions will include topics on archaeology, photographs, clothing and textiles, shells and fossils.
All sessions will take place between 11am and 1pm, and 2pm to 4pm. They are:
Wednesday, August 13 – Focus on Chichester: Simon Kitchin, curator of social history, on caring for photographs.
Saturday, August 16 – Sharks and Shells: David Bone, local geologist, on fossils of the Chichester district.
Thursday, August 21 –Heads and Tails: Bernie Spiegelhalter, museum collections assistant, on working with Roman coinage.
Wednesday, August 27 – Community Life: Rosemary Gilmour, curator of social history, on clothing and textiles of the past.
Thursday, September 4 – Boxes and Bags: Jayne Stewart, museum archaeology officer, see how the museum archaeology collection is stored.
