QUICK-thinking staff and customers tackled an arson at a Spanish restaurant in Chichester city centre.

They sprung into action after the small fire broke out on the flat roof of El Castizo in St Pancras just before 10.30pm on Wednesday (July 2).

Firefighters from Chichester rushed to the scene but on arrival found the fire in a small area of the roof - approximately one square foot - was already out.

Police are investigating the arson and appealed to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area around the time of the fire or has any information about it to get in touch.

Anyone with any information is asked to call PC Kat Chuter at Chichester police station on 0845 60 70 999.
